The Indian Government banned 59 mobile Chinese apps a month ago that sat a threat to Indian national security.
Now again, a new set of 47 mobile apps is all set to banned in India. These are Chinese apps which are the clones of the apps that got banned previously. Some of these 47 Chinese Apps are TikTok Light, ShareIt Lite, CamScanner Light, advance, and many more. They came upon the play store within a month from the ban on Chinese Apps in India.
The list of 47 apps that will be banned has not been officially announced by the Indian government yet but it will be soon.
Besides, the Indian Government has another 257 apps under its scope. They will be watched and scanned for issues of national security and securing the privacy of the users.
In an article by India.com, it was mentioned that the list of 257 apps includes some of the very popular apps such as PUBG PC, ULike, Resso, Alibaba, Tencent, Xiaomi, ByteDance, Zili, Aliexpress, etc.
Resso and ULike are apps created by Bytedance which also owns TikTok.
In addition to the already growing list of apps under scrutiny, there are new 14 Mi apps of Xiaomi which are under the radar. Names of similar apps are Meitu, Perfect Corp, Sina Corp, LBE Tech, Yoozoo Global, and Netease Games.
The government may not completely ban these apps but it is possible that only privacy breaches will be banned.
A month ago, on June 30 many popular Chinese apps such as TikTok, UC Browser, Share it, and Shein was banned and removed from the Play store. The reason stated was that they were connected in actions that might turn dangerous for the integrity of India, defense of India, the security of the state and public order.
